Crossroads

Obviously no need for me to explain why this song has found it’s way on my blog. And I’m not even going to throw around with big words right now (is that even correct English, hmmmm *lol*).

The lyrics say it all. So, just go and listen …

Crossroads by Calvin Russell

I'm standing at the crossroads
There are many roads to take
But I stand here so silently
For fear of a mistake
One path leads to paradise
One path leads to pain
One path leads to freedom
They all look the same.

I've travelled many roads
And not all of them where good
The foolish ones taught more to me
Than the wise ones ever could
One path lead to sacrifise
One path lead to shame
One path lead to freedom
But they all look the same.

There were roads I never travelled
There were turns I did not take
There were mysteries I could not unravel
But leaving you was my only mistake.

So I'm standing at the crossroads
Imprisoned by this doubt
As if by doing nothing
I might find my way out

One path leads to paradise
One path leads to pain
One path leads to freedom
But they all look the same

Just A Note

Today, as I was doing some prints in the darkroom, just standing there alone (what can I say, not the whole world has gone digital *lol*), waiting for the pictures to appear, there were some thoughts coming to my head ... and of course they are thoughts about roads :-). Now, I don't know if these words have been said by anyone famous, or not that famous for that matter, but for right now, they are my words, and I claim them to be my own ...

"Life is a road that's meant to be traveled on."

What does this mean?
I for myself think, that in order to get somewhere you have to move. So that's what you do when you're on a road, a path, a street or anything like it. You walk and you move forward. I can imagine that it might be comfy and nice to just stay in places we know and which are familiar to us. But, you tend to stay there for too long. There are so many things ahead of that road, waiting just around the bend for us to explore. But if we don't walk, if we don't move forward, we'll never get to experience just what might lie ahead ...

So, I say, take those steps, even though difficult sometimes, move forward and travel the road!

And a footnote to finish with ... completely off topic though (or maybe not), but here it goes ...
Also happened this evening at photography class. Someone commented on the clothes that I was wearing. "All in black today, huh?". And I said: "Well, yes", correcting him though, that my dress was however anthracite and not black. haha ;).
Then, when getting ready to leave I put on my coat (which is white), and he walked by and said: "Ahhh, black AND white it is." And I replied: "Yeah, and many more shades of gray inbetween."

Just one of life's little and sometimes unnoticed stories I wanted to share.

Roads Not Taken ...

Second Blog, here you go :)

I actually wanted to post a map of the approximate route I’m thinking of taking. But firstly, I haven’t found the right map yet, and second, Jac from Southern Gothic just came up with the idea of sending out a Message in a Bottle (read more about that on her Blog…

http://jaclynejaye.blogspot.com/2009/03/message-in-bottle.html).

So I thought this is the right Blog for today :) And as my message - which is a poem - that I am going to send out to Jac in Canada has something to do with roads, I thought I’d post it here for everyone to see…

Danielle – hoping to take as many roads as possible

The Road not Taken
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

A Beginning

Ok, so wow!! This is my first Blog ever *lol* And it kinda got me started cause of all the lovely Bloggers on Southern Gothic Productions :) So thank you out there, you know who you are :)

The reason for this Blog coming alive is actually my 3-months trip through the US and Canada, starting this summer (sometime around June, not really fixed date yet) and ending mid September. So I thought, this Blog might be a great idea to keep my friends and family and everyone else interested in my travels up to date on what I'll be doing, where I'm headed, and all the hopefully great experiences I'll be having. After some challenges in the beginning, I think, I now finally know where this Road Trip is headed and who I'm going to enjoy it with.

So, this is it for now, everyone interested in the details of where the roads going to take me this summer (can't plan everything yet, you'll have to leave some things to chance, right), please check back here soon :)
